What is the anaerobic digestion process?

The anaerobic digestion process is defined as a biological treatment for the degradation of organic matter by bacterial fermentation.

Its main benefit from the point of view of energy use is that such fermentation produces methane gas in the absence of air, which provides a significant calorific value, which can reach up to 6000 kcal / m3 of biogas. This process produces between 750 and 1100 liters of biogas for each kg of volatile solids destroyed.

The process of anaerobic digestion by bacterial fermentation is carried out in 4 phases in this order, with our B-BIOP biopotentiator acting in the first of all of them and contributing in a decisive way to the classification of the raw organic matter into proteins, fats and carbohydrates, a key step for the rest of the phases to be carried out in an optimal way: hydrolysis, acidogenesis, acetogenesis and methanogenesis.
